F M E 5 by Josef Albers (1962) – Poster

Four rectangles of varying sizes and colors sit inside each other, creating a layered effect. This is F M E 5, a study in how colors interact and shapes relate to each other. The artwork uses a palette of yellows, reds, and blues, with each rectangle slightly offset from the one beneath it. The colors seem to shift and change depending on the angle and light, creating a dynamic visual experience. The precision of the shapes and the boldness of the colors make this piece a fascinating exploration of perception. The artwork's simplicity is deceptive. The more you look, the more you see the subtle interactions between the colors and shapes. The yellow rectangle at the center appears to glow, while the red and blue rectangles create a sense of depth and movement. The offset placement of the rectangles adds a sense of rhythm and harmony to the composition. This poster would work well in a modern living room or a contemporary office space. The bold colors and geometric shapes would complement a minimalist decor style.
