A window frames a view of a brick wall in Philip Guston’s Inside Outside. The artwork plays with perspective and the contrast between interior and exterior spaces, inviting contemplation of what lies beyond the pane. The composition is dominated by a muted palette of reds, pinks, and grays. Guston’s signature brushwork is evident in the textured strokes that define the window frame and the rough surface of the bricks. The simplicity of the scene belies its complexity, as the interplay of light and shadow adds depth to the image. This print suits a study or a quiet corner where one can ponder the interplay of inside and outside.
