Red Blue Yellow by Gerhard Richter – Poster

Three bold color fields divide the canvas in Red Blue Yellow. This is Gerhard Richter’s manner of pure abstraction, no scene, no figure, only hue and surface. Cobalt, ultramarine, and cadmium red sit side by side, each a flat, unmodulated plane. The edges meet with razor precision, yet the paint retains a subtle matte texture, as if the color itself were a solid object rather than a pigment. Light does not model these shapes; they exist purely as color. Richter’s work often pits photography against painting, but here he discards the camera entirely. Red Blue Yellow belongs to his suite of color charts, where the act of looking becomes the subject. The artist asks us to notice how color can be both object and event, a visual fact and a psychological trigger, without ever slipping into decoration. Hang this Gerhard Richter art print above a console or in a minimalist study. It rewards the viewer who pauses, offering a wall art poster that refuses to fade into the background.
